We’re Stronger Together
With your help, we can advance education and improve student success in our community.
Volunteering with our programs means making an impact in the community. While not all volunteer opportunities are open to everyone, there are always plenty of programs in need of your help. You can find an opportunity to give back no matter your interests or schedule.
LLU students: our volunteer opportunities can help you meet your service learning requirements and become a community-engaged health professional. All opportunities are open to LLU students and eligible for service learning hours. If your class doesn’t have specific service guidelines, we can help you find opportunities to enrich your professional experience while uplifting people in need.
There’s no one way to serve, and certainly no one volunteering schedule. Our programs include volunteer opportunities across a range of time commitments. There’s a type of opportunity for everyone, whether you’re unable to commit to long-term programs or just want flexibility to explore your interests in service:

Service learning is a structured learning experience that combines academic preparation, collaborative relationships, community engagement, and critical reflection. Service learning is geared toward working alongside underserved communities and includes communication and collaboration with community partners both before and after the activity.
Service learning is a requirement for all LLU students. Volunteering for any opportunity with CAPS counts toward that requirement. The reason you’re asked to participate is to gain an appreciation for the strengths and needs of your community, and to find ways to meet those needs and learn from those strengths as a lifelong practice. By practicing mutual learning and reciprocity in service, you learn the attitudes, values, and skills to be a lifelong community-engaged practitioner.
Use our volunteer portal to sign up for ongoing commitments, flexible commitments, or events.
We prefer you sign up beforehand. This is the only way you are guaranteed volunteering hours and tasks. If you do forget, please call our office to see if we will take additional volunteers at the door.
Because we rely heavily on our volunteers' participation, please inform us as soon as you know you will not be able to make it. If there are opportunities that request more commitment than you know you can give, we ask that you choose an opportunity more fitting to your schedule.
Log in to your volunteer profile to check your completed hours. You should see all the opportunities you have participated in during your time with us. If there is a discrepancy, please email us at caps@llu.edu. Please note that it may take us up to two weeks after an opportunity is finished to input all volunteer hours.
Volunteer opportunities are offered Tuesday – Saturday each week. Some events are held on Sundays a couple of times a quarter. Check out our current opportunities for specific hours and other details.
Yes, our La Escuelita Family Resource Center, My Campus, Project Hope, and Discovery programs all deal with either teens or adults. Check out our current opportunities for specific details.
