A collaboration between Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) academic researchers and community stakeholders in all aspects of the study, including initiation, design, and dissemination of findings, with the goal of improving the individual and community wellbeing.

Community Engaged Research (CER) is informed by the values of compassion, respect, integrity, excellence, and justice.

Community Engaged Research Subcommittee

Purpose

To create, promote, and support a culture of community engaged research* at Loma Linda University Health by supporting education and training, building a community of engaged researchers on campus, and providing resources to students, faculty, and community members.

Committee Charge

  • Education: Establish and disseminate shared definitions and understanding of what community engaged research is, including community based participatory research (CBPR).
  • Community: create a community of faculty interested or engaged in research involving the community so that they can collaborate and share best practices and resources.
  • Resources: Provide resources such as conference and publication opportunities, CER tools and trainings that will contribute to faculty development.
  • Clearinghouse: Provide a central clearinghouse where information about CER at LLUH can be found (i.e. research projects, topics, investigators, partners, sites, publications).

*The term “research” is used broadly to include all types of research and practice that fall under the umbrella of the scholarship of discovery. Examples include: translational research, evaluation research, qualitative and quantitative research among others.
