The primary responsibility for financing your education rests with you. Financial aid is meant to supplement your family resources. You may apply for financial aid before receiving acceptance for admission to the University. The steps below outline the financial aid process.

Steps for the financial aid process

Step One: Submit a FAFSA for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. New applicants will need to create a user name and password (FSA ID) to complete the FAFSA. This is your electronic signature. Parents will need to create their own FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA. Renewal students can log into the FAFSA using their existing FSA ID.

Students and parents who have filed their 2021 IRS tax return will be able to select the IRS Data Retrieval option on the FAFSA to transfer their tax information. We strongly encourage you to select this option during the initial filing or when subsequent corrections are made to your 2023-2024 FAFSA. This option will streamline and expedite the processing of your financial aid application.

Note: To be considered for the maximum possible aid sources, you MUST include the parent information on the FAFSA. Apply early, as funding is limited and cannot be guaranteed for late applications.

Cal Grant Applicants: In addition to the FAFSA, a GPA Verification Form is required from all undergraduate applicants that have not previously received a Cal Grant. The form must be certified by a registrar and sent to the address on the form. Please submit the form to the registrar no later than February 28. Cal Grant renewal students are not required to complete the GPA verification form.

Step Two: Complete LLU Financial Aid requirements/forms

If you are a new student, a LLU PIN will be emailed to you once your FAFSA information is received in the Office of Financial Aid.  Your LLU PIN will enable you to access and electronically complete your financial aid requirements as well as download and submit other LLU financial aid forms.

If you are a current or returning student, you would use your LLU email address and password.

To view your requirements follow the steps below:

  • To login using your LLU ID number or Social Security Number (SSN) and LLU PIN click here. To login using your LLU email address and password click here.
  • Click "Financial Aid Menu"
  • Click "Aid Application and Eligibility Menu"
  • Click the "Application Tracking Requirements" to view requirements.

All students can access the financial aid forms. Any required form becomes immediately available on the application tracking requirements page. Do not submit un-requested forms as this may delay the process. The deadline to submit any required forms/documentation is 30 days from the date on your notice.

Step Three: Review Financial Aid Award

Once your file has been completed and reviewed, your financial aid will be awarded by your advisor. All available aid sources are considered during this process. However, a Federal Direct Loan cannot be processed until you are "officially" accepted to the University. Institutional awards are determined based on the availability of funds and cannot be guaranteed for late applications.

To view your financial aid award follow the steps below:

  • To login using your LLU ID number or Social Security Number (SSN) and LLU PIN click here. To login using your LLU email address and password click here.
  • Click "Financial Aid Menu"
  • Click "My Award Information Menu"
  • Select the appropriate aid year
  • Click "Award By Aid Year"
  • Click the "Accept Award Offer" tab
  • Accept/decline the desired amount and submit your decision

LLU accepts financial aid applications year-round; however, you should complete your application as soon as possible because funding for late applications is limited. To ensure funding prior to attendance, you should complete the financial aid application 60 days before the start of enrollment. Applications completed less than 60 days before the start of enrollment will be processed as time permits.

Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have any questions. We are happy to help you navigate through this process.
