  • Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Chemistry Department, Johns Hopkins University (2000-2004):Studies on the surface modification of polymers and thin films. Investigated the effect of surface treatments (e.g. ion beams, X-rays) on polymers and thin films. Studies employed the surface analytical techniques of photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). Studies on the electron-driven chemistry of organohalide/water (ice) films at 100K under the influence of ionizing radiation. The focus of project was to model the electron-stimulated reactions that may occur on the surfaces of polar stratospheric clouds. Studies used a range of surface science techniques such as mass spectrometry (MS), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), IR and XPS. Interdisciplinary project with collaborations from Hopkins and Rutgers Universities. (10/2000 - 07/2004)
