descriptive correlational study design, Kanter’s theory of power was the framework for this study.  The Conditions of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire (CWEQ), developed by Laschinger & Chandler (1986) and adapted for college nurse educators (Laschinger, 2000) was used to examine overall perceptions of workplace empowerment of college nurse educators.  The adapted CWEQ is a 35-item questionnaire that includes 4 subscales that uses a five point Likert scale.     UMASS Excellence in Nursing Poster Presentation: “Nursing Faculty Development”                                         April 2011 faculty.  The modules were created based on the NLN (National League of Nursing) nurse educator competencies, QSEN (Quality and Safety in Nursing Education) competencies, and NOF (Nurse of the Future) competencies.  The modules were developed based on the triad of competencies: NLN educator competencies, QSEN competencies, and NOF competencies.  These modules include: ·      Cultural Competency in Nursing Education ·      How to Measure Clinical Competency ·      Clinical Feedback ·      Clinical Evaluation ·      Safety with Medication Administration ·      Stimulate Critical Thinking in Clinical ·      Curriculum Design ·      Reflection of Novice Faculty   The combination between faculty competency, student competencies, and nursing competencies may ultimately provide the essentials for all participants involved   RN Faculty Development PART II 3.0 CE Workshop for Clinical Faulty                     August 2019 (3 workshops) January 2019 (2 workshops) August 2018 (2 workshops) College                                                                         Poster Presentation: “Cultural Competency in Nursing Education”                 April 2010 September 2010 October 2010 This presentation included information about cultural competency of nursing educators.  The poster infused information about two transcultural nursing theorists.  Giger and Davidzhar and Josephena Camphina Bacote.  This poster looked at the culture of African American nursing students and how to assess their needs to teach them to be more culturally diverse.  This presentation has presented at several venues.   Sinclair Community College Present Pilot Study: “On the Move with Mobile Technology”                            March 2007                                                                                                                                     October 2007                                                                                     This presentation included information about a pilot study on PDA performed at an Associate Degree Program, in Dayton Ohio. I n this study, faculty were selected from a variety of teaching disciplines at this community college.  These faculty then selected a variety of tools and electronic books specific to their specialty area to be downloaded onto the device.  The technology department at the college loaned 10 PDA devices to these faculty members to trial the hardware and software.  This pilot study enabled faculty to become aware of this technology and teach them how to use it to enhance student learning.  This project revealed information which was used to make curriculum decision changes.  The outcomes allowed more students to use technology at point of care and to purchase electronic books for the PDA in the bookstore instead of traditional books.   This project was presented at the Ohio nurse educator association in March 2007 and the Association for Associate Degree Colleges and Health Sciences meeting in Cincinnati, October 2007.                                                                                                                      Grandview Medical Center             Nursing Symposium:  “Transition from Student to RN”                                     March 2005             Massachusetts Nursing Organization “Transition From Student to RN”                                                                          April 2001                                                                                                                                     April 2002                                                                                                                                     April 2003   Master’s Thesis Presentation & Abstract                                                              May 2004 “Empowerment of critical care nurses, participating in an Internship program:  A Method of Evaluation” Research was done on critical care nurses who have participated in a one year critical care internship program and completed the requirements of that program.  Attaining and utilizing the Conditions of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire published by Dr. Laschinger and Dr. Chandler, the researcher conducted a method of evaluation testing four components within the empowerment model:  Access to Opportunity, Access to Support, Access to Information, and Access to Resources.  The tool also measured global and total empowerment scores.   Poster Presentation                                                                                      October 2010 Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing:  Celebrating the past present and future of nursing Prepared a poster presentation on “Cultural Competency in Nursing Education” Objectives:  Explore the multidimensional challenges of defining health and quality health care delivery within contemporary societies. Evaluate research, study designs and outcomes appropriate to understanding the issues associated with cultural perspectives in nursing and health care.     (07/2025)
