Director

Juan Carlos Belliard has taught in the areas of culture and health; traditional, complementary and alternative medicine; ethnographic research methods; health disparities; and migrant health. His research interest focuses on medical pluralism. He is currently Director of the Institute for Community Partnerships and a co-investigator at Loma Linda University’s Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine. As an educator, Dr. Belliard applies service-learning methods to his teaching in local and international communities, and is dedicated to various efforts that strengthen community-university relationships. His passion is for minority health, education, and health equity.

Jasmine Hutchinson

Jasmine Hutchinson is Loma Linda University Health’s Director of Community Benefit and the Associate Director for the Institute for Community Partnerships. In her current roles, she collaborates with partners and staff to design and implement strategies and initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable populations in the Inland Empire. She has over 15 years of global and US public health leadership experience and a passion for health equity. Prior to joining LLUH, Jasmine served as the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at Essential Access Health where she was responsible for leading the Learning Exchange (a national training center) during a period of rapid growth. Before joining Essential Access, she served as Managing Director of the Washington State Public Health Association, overseeing all aspects of the organization’s programs and operations. Previously she worked at Population Services International focusing on ensuring availability of high quality health products and services to at-risk and underserved populations in 70 countries. Nery Pereira is our Administrative Assistant with extensive experience and administrative skills. She has worked for Loma Linda University Health system since 1995 and joined the ICP Department in November 2011. Her administrative career started in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she worked as an Executive Assistant for two directors of Golden Cross Assistencia International De Saude Ltda., one of the largest health insurance corporations in South America. Nery's bi-cultural background and trilingual skills come in handy as our institute works with surrounding communities.

Cristie Granillo (MEd, University of Nevada, MS Azusa Pacific University) is the Community Health Worker Integration Manager at Loma Linda for the Institute for Community Partnerships. Through her leadership roles, Cristie has gained valuable experience managing programs to advocate for the creation of high quality educational pathways for students, wellness and safety for the community. From 2016 - 2018, Cristie served as Health Educator, Program Manager at Fresno Barrios Unidos. Through her experiences she has demonstrated her commitment to addressing social justice issues impacting youth and inequities in underserved communities. She currently manages the community health community workers for Chaffey Joint Unified High School District, San Bernardino City Unified School District, and Loma Loma Linda’s Community Health Workers supporting the NICU and Diabetes patients.

Crissy Irani (MBBS, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, MPH, Loma Linda University) is ICP’s hospital-based Community Health Worker (CHW) Integration Manager. Previously, while working as a research fellow at Cleveland Clinic’s Outcomes Research department, and research assistant at the Adventist Health Study - 2, Crissy focused on topics such as pre/post procedure anxiety, vegetarian diets & cognitive function/inflammatory markers in older adults. As a research analyst with ICP, she then combined her background in global health & community medicine, public health, and project management to develop and organize grants, budgets & contracts (pre-award), while also supporting many internal & interdepartmental collaborations. During the early COVID-19 pandemic period, she supported the hospital CHW team growth and integration into multiple units across LLUH (https://icp.llu.edu/our-work/chw-integration). Crissy now works directly with a large team of experienced and talented CHWs on streamlining hospital system integration, community engagement and health metrics to provide outcomes for multiple programs.

Monique Osorio

Monique Osorio (Masters of Business Administration, University of La Verne) is passionate about working alongside the community in an effort to create systemic change that addresses inequities and improves the overall well-being for all people. Throughout her 8+ years working at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Empire she focused on developing an expanded service delivery program that aimed to equip and empower underrepresented youth with social-emotional skills to be college, career, and life ready. To expand this program nation-wide, Monique co-lead an innovative collaborative with Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliates across the nation to discuss best practices for infusing college & career readiness within their programs and to extend their programs to support young adults from 18 to 25 years of age. The intent of these efforts was to increase the persistency rate of first-generation students of color, to fully disrupt generational cycles of poverty, and to support workforce development that gives these young adults a living wage. Currently, as a part of the Institute for Community Partnerships team, Monique has transferred her skills to lead two of our community-based coalitions focused on health equity work in the San Bernardino County region. Currently focused on Medi-Cal Enrollment and COVID-19 Vaccination and Education work, Monique aims to deepen our community partner relationships to increase access to healthcare for all.

Mark Camarena is ICP's Community Benefit Manager. In this role Mark oversees LLUH's Community Benefit spending, supports regulatory reporting requirements and focuses on outcome-driven results for ICP programming. As a passionate advocate of service-oriented work, Mark graduated with his Master's of Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Southern California. His life's goal is to provide access to educational, recreational and cultural opportunities to those that need it most. With local, national, and international community-based experience, including one year spent in Ecuador to start a Christian Bilingual School, Mark hopes to use his experience in nonprofit leadership, budget/finance and program development to make a positive difference in our community. When not at work, Mark enjoys all things sports, travelling and spending time with his family.

Stephanie Palaad

Community Benefit Program Coordinator

Stephanie comes from a recreation background, serving for 10 years in afterschool and summer camp programs where she focused on providing safe spaces for kids, developing key relationships with the school district, and engaging with parents to find program improvements. While taking a break from work to raise her four children, she created a mutual aid group that now serves over 2,000 Inland Empire residents and created an inclusive mental health support group for parents. She was first hired at Loma Linda during the Covid-19 Pandemic to coordinate the non-clinical volunteer program at the Drayson Center Mass Vaccination Clinic. Her passion for public health transitioned her to the Community Benefit Program Coordinator position where she supports the vital programs of the Institute for Community Partnerships. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication from Arizona State University and is honing her graphic design skills to bring clarity and community accessibility to the annual reports and community health needs assessments written by the Community Benefit Department.
