The Coordinated Program (CP) integrates both the essential academic coursework (similar to a DPD) and supervised practice competencies within a single degree-granting program. This structure allows students to develop professional skills alongside cognitive and technical knowledge. Upon graduation, CP students are eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians to become credentialed as registered dietitians, without the need to apply for a separate internship.
A Coordinated Program (CP) combines academic coursework and supervised practice into one degree, allowing students to graduate eligible for the Registration Examination without needing an additional internship.
In contrast, a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) provides only the academic coursework, after which students must apply to a separate Dietetic Internship (DI) for the supervised practice required to sit for the exam.
Our Coordinated Program is currently granted continuing accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, (ACEND). 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2190, Chicago IL 60606-6995, 800-877-1600, ext 5400. https://www.eatrightpro.org/acend, email [email protected] Our Nutrition and Dietetics programs are accredited through the year 2027.
Licensure
While state interpretations of statutes may vary, it is ACEND's considered opinion that the program meets the educational requirements for dietetics licensure and certification in all states. However, completing an ACEND-accredited academic program alone does not qualify an individual for licensure or certification as a dietitian in any state. Individuals should review their state's licensing statutes and regulations to understand the specific requirements, including supervised practice and examinations, needed to obtain a dietetics license. More information about state licensure and certification can be found at this link: State Licensure.
International students holding a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply to the MS in Nutrition and Dietetics (for those with a prior BA/BS in a non-nutrition or non-ACEND accredited nutrition major) and the MPH in Nutrition (Coordinated Program in Dietetics).
