Chair of the committee, Dr. Gail Rice is known in many higher education circles for her love of teaching, learning, and her application of theory and research to the professional education classroom and clinic. She has doctor of education and specialist in education degrees with specialties in adult learning and leadership in higher education. Her master's degree is in educational psychology, and she holds a bachelor's degree in nursing.
She returned to the faculty at Loma Linda University in 1992 to direct continuing education for the Schools of Public Health and Allied Health Professions. She helped develop the curricula for two new programs--a graduate program for physical therapy and a maternal-child health program for the health promotion and education department in the School of Public Health / department of preventive medicine, School of Medicine. She is an elected member to the board of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc., and provides consultation on test construction to the division board for the Certified Health Educator Specialist examination.
She conducts workshops and guest lectures through the country and abroad. At LLU, she teaches several faculty development courses each year on the topic of higher education in the health professions through the School of Allied Health Professions.
