About Alexandra Mazo, MD, PhD

Dr. Alexandra Mazo is a board-certified pediatric nephrologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Loma Linda University. She completed her medical training and earned a PhD in Moscow, Russia, where she also worked as a pediatric nephrologist and researcher. After moving to the United States, she completed an additional pediatric residency and a pediatric nephrology fellowship in New York. Her clinical and research interests include glomerulonephritis, hypertension, acute kidney injury, and neonatal nephrology. 

As Director of Neonatal Nephrology at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Dr. Mazo works closely with neonatologists and other specialists to care for newborns with kidney-related conditions. She established a dedicated clinic for infants born prematurely who are at increased risk of kidney injury, providing ongoing monitoring and support as they grow. 

Dr. Mazo believes that excellent care begins with listening. She strives to provide every child and family with a respectful, compassionate, and family-centered experience while involving parents as active partners in medical decision-making. Working with children and helping them achieve healthier futures is one of the greatest joys of her career.
