About So Ran Kwon, DDS, PhD, MS

Dr. So Ran Kwon is Professor and Program Director of Student Research at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry that she first joined in 2011. She completed her DDS degree at Yonsei University College of Dentistry Seoul, Korea in 1993, followed by a MS and PhD degree at the Department of Conservative Dentistry in 1996 and 1999, respectively. She received her Master’s degree in Operative Dentistry from the University of Iowa and became board certified by the American Board of Operative Dentistry in 2011.

 

Dr. Kwon has had many years of dental practice and research experience in managing patients with dental caries in a minimally invasive way. She was inducted into the “Society of Scholars” in 2017 for her significant scholarly contributions to the scientific community. Currently, she serves as an associate editor of Operative Dentistry and section editor for the Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice. She has authored numerous publications related to esthetic dentistry and authored a textbook, “Tooth Whitening in Esthetic Dentistry” published by Quintessence. 

 

Dr. Kwon has served as the principal (PI) and co-investigator on numerous grants including internal, external foundational, and industry grants. Currently, she serves as the PI on the IADR Innovation in Oral Care grant where she investigates a novel application of nanomaterials that can exert on-demand antimicrobial activity.
