About Tsima A. Kors, PhD

I am an Instructor and researcher in the Department of Ophthalmology at the School of Medicine. I earned my PhD in Molecular Medicine from Ulm University, Germany, graduating summa cum laude, and my MSc in Cardiovascular Science from the University of Göttingen, Germany, with distinction. I completed my master’s thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization. My doctoral research integrated molecular datasets and experimental approaches to identify biomarkers and investigate mechanisms of head and neck cancer.

My current research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration, particularly age-related macular degeneration. I combine computational biology and experimental research to identify therapeutic targets and explore drug repurposing strategies. My research interests also include cell therapy and biomaterials for retinal repair and regeneration.
