About Theresa M. Joseph, DPT
Throughout my career and life, I have experienced physical therapy from several different perspectives: as a clinician, a patient, an educator, and an advocate. This has solidified my belief in two essential principles of the profession. First, physical therapy is a vital, dynamic part of the health care system. Second, practitioners must provide exceptional, ethical, and culturally sensitive care in a safe environment within the community. I beleive commitment to service and to facilitating healing, independence, and wellness is a fundamental motivation for those who choose to be employed in this profession. Furthermore, a balance between strong clinical and didactic education is foundational.
As a Director of Clinical Education for the DPT program, I am personally invested in ensuring students are prepared for professional communication and use of sound clinical judgment in rendering patient and client care to achieve best practice and optimal outcomes.. I beleive that this requires ongoing collaboration with students, faculty, clinical educators, as well as interprofessional healthcare partners. I am committed to facilitating activities within the institution and community that are vital in the ongoing development of academic faculty and clinical educators to effect excellence in student education and mentoring.
