  • August 13,2014  Trauma Resilience Model Training -  3-day Loma Linda University   The TRM is a model of trauma intervention for working with survivors of trauma.,This class provided information about mindfulness interventions which can mitigate conflictual situations, calm potentially dangerous clients, and provide calming techniques for managing stress in clients and practitioners.  The presenter provided relaxing music, entertaining techniques of illustrating dialetical dynamics and provided instructive ideas for working with individuals.  (09/2014)

Seminars and Conferences

  • October 28, 2018  Domestic Violence Conference, "Unveiling the reality of Domestic violence in the Adventst Church,  Loma Linda University, sponsored by the Women's Orgaization in Loma LInda Emphasis on Domestic Violence in the SDA Church, resources, Introduction of "End it Now"  (The SDA Church's international outreach for international domestic services) presentations on ways SDA churches can develop safe places for women to disclose challenges, and resources for families who have been impacted by domestic violence.  March 13,-15, 2014 American Society of Aging Conference, San Diego, CA Presentation with Loma Linda University presenting information and interventions for domestic violence awareness, dynamics, and resources.  Introduction of resources for domestic violence survivors within the SDA Church, including a trauma interventions and local rescources for women and men who have been survivors of domestic violence.  This training  included illustrations of skills for identifying resources with the SDA Church, including a new service for domestic violence survivors known as "End it Now", an international SDA outreach and services for survivors of domestic violence in many countries, including the U.S.  This was a day-long presentation dealing with identifying intimate violence, sharing resources for obtaining help, and helping survivors recognize it is not their fault, and helping them recognize resources for getting out of unsafe relationships.  Several presentations throughout the day also dealt with ongoing abusive marriages, where husbands mistreated wives and falsely suggested it was their right to treat them a certain way.   This conference afforded us an opportunity to interact with other SDA professionals from all over the U.S.  and  we learned about End it Now, the SDA Church's international organization that develops various health programs and specific interventions for domestic violence all over the world, were shared in the various programs, and presentations at this conference.   Behavioral Health Trauma Team on Trauma Resilience Model - Dr. Beverly Buckles, Dr. Kim Freeman, Dr. Victoria Jackson, Dr. David Vermeesh, Dr. Adam Arichiga, and Dr. Wanetta Baker.Presentation : Blue Zone Principles for Caregiver Wellness, Victoria Jackson,Ed.D & Stephanie Wogomon, MSW Candidate, presenters at the Aging Conference in San Diego, September, 2014.   (10/2018)
