About Peter C. Gleason, PhD

My career has been defined by a commitment to helping people discover their voice, strengthen their sense of purpose, and become the most effective version of themselves. Whether working with students in the classroom or clients in clinical settings, I have always valued the process of empowerment—supporting individuals as they build confidence, develop competence, and learn to navigate challenges with increased self-reliance.

Since earning my PhD in Psychology in 2011 from Loma Linda University, I have worked across academic, clinical, and community environments. These roles have reinforced my belief that meaningful growth requires both intellectual engagement and relational support. In my teaching, I prioritize learning experiences that foster autonomy and critical thinking. I use active and team-based learning, evidence-based pedagogy, and digital education tools to create spaces where students can test ideas, learn collaboratively, and gain confidence in their expertise. My work as Faculty Liaison for Digital Education has focused on building faculty development frameworks that support effective online instruction and elevate the quality of distance learning.

Teamwork remains central to my philosophy. Effective collaboration depends on listening carefully, understanding diverse perspectives, and knowing when to lead and when to follow. My training as a Core Strengths facilitator helps me teach students and colleagues to navigate interpersonal dynamics with clarity and professionalism, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to shared goals.

Clinically, I have been equally committed to helping individuals understand their experiences, build resilience, and move toward healthier patterns of functioning. These clinical experiences inform my teaching, grounding it in real-world complexity and reinforcing the importance of compassion, structure, and clear communication.

Across all contexts, my goal remains the same: to empower others. I want students to leave my courses with the confidence to lead and collaborate; I want clients to feel more capable, grounded, and self-directed; and I want colleagues to have the tools necessary to succeed in an evolving educational landscape. My professional path—spanning clinical practice, graduate-level teaching, faculty development, and national presentations—reflects this enduring commitment.

I am driven by the belief that education and psychology share a common mission: to elevate human potential. My work is, and continues to be, dedicated to helping people find their path forward with clarity, purpose, and confidence.
