  • American Association Medical Colleges, November 2-8, 2008, Washington DC Attend to scientific and other academic session, and diversity/Student pipeline committees. (11/2008)
  • Annual Biomedical Research Conference on minority Students, November 7-11, 2008  This is an NIGMS supported national conference in which abou 2000 students funded from by training grants present their research. Several students participants in our summer programs presented their research. The meeting serves as a site for the annual meeting for NIGMS program directors which Dr. De Leon has been member since 2000. (11/2008)
  • Research Panel, National Center Research Resources (NCRR), NIH,  Bethesda, MD, October 22-24, 2008. Served as panelist Dr. De Leon served in the panel evaluating COBRE research centers (10/2008)
  •  National Meeting "Academy for Health Equity", Denver, Colorado, June 24-27, 2008 Dr. De Leon is part of the Founding Board of this academic organizations. Dr. De Leon Chaired two scientific sessions during the meeting. (06/2008)
  • National Academy of Sciences meeting "Research Interventions that promote research careers", May 2-4, 2008, Atlanta, Georgia Dr. De Leon was an author in one poster in this meeting (05/2008)
  • National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparity (NCMHD) Annual meeting. The PI had a poster presentation and presented an oral report of the activities and research conducted by the center for health disparities at Loma Linda (LLUCHDMM). July 16-July 18, 2007 Sumit sponsored by NCI and the NCMHD, NIH. Dr. Marino De Leon presented a poster at the conference and presented a progress report of the activities and research of the LLU CHDMM July 16-18, 2007 Bethesda North Marriott Conference Center and Hotel Bethesda, MD Sponsored by National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), and the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR). The Summit 07 program featured highlights of grantees in defined regions that have implemented successful program strategies. Participants shared accomplishments and challenges across several cross-cutting themes: Collaborations and Partnerships, Communications and Bioinformatics, Community Engagement, Managing and Sustaining Programs, Training.   • NIH Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program, NIH, Bethesda Maryland. Dr. De Leon Attended this meeting to recieve an award from the is NIH program for serving as mentor for Xouxaen Helu (current MD student at LLU) and for supporting the program. Xouxaen Helu was awarded an scholarship by the program that help paying his undergraduate education in La Sierra University. The conference (part of the NIH Research Festival) was held July 31-August 1, 2007 Xouxaen Helu is the second student from our Health Diparities Research pipeline programs that has been awarded the prestigous NIH Undergraduate Fellowship. The first student was Gabriel Linares, current student in our PhD Program. (07/2007 - 08/2007)
