Professor, Social Work & Social Ecology
Dr. Monte Butler is a Professor of Social Work and Social Ecology at Loma Linda University (LLU), where he researches Medicare policy and teaches research and supervision.
He started his social work career serving on the pastoral staff of Loma Linda University as Assistant Director of Adventist Community Team Services (ACTS). He then moved to public service, working as a Program Consultant and then an Adult Protective Services (APS) Supervisor for the Utah Division of Aging and Adult Services.
In 1996, Dr. Butler made the transition to social work education when he accepted a position as Field Coordinator, and began teaching for, the Pacific Union College (PUC) Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. In 2006, he switched to directing the BSW program and in 2007 added being Chair of the Department of Psychology and Social work to his administrative responsibilities.
It was in 2014 that Dr. Butler joined the LLU School of Behavioral Health Department of Social Work and Social Ecology.
Dr. Butler is an avid cyclist and enjoys photography when off the bike.
