About Syed A. Athar, MD

Dr Athar is a faculty interventional cardiologist at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center. He is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Endovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiovascular CT, and Internal Medicine. He has served as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center since 2016. He is an associate program director for the Loma Linda University Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. His interests include complex transradial PCI, intracoronary imaging with OCT and IVUS, low-contrast angiography and PCI, and multimodality noninvasive imaging. He is a member of the VA's national Major Adverse Events committee, and serves as a cath lab quality improvement consultant.
