LLU hosts forum about H1N1 influenza virus

The media is invited to cover a forum convening Monday, November 23, at Loma Linda University about the challenge of public health preparedness, particularly as it relates to the H1N1 influenza virus. The program runs from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at LLU’s Wong Kerlee International Conference Center.
Presenting will be Alonzo Louis Plough III, PhD, MPH, director of emergency preparedness and response for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
In California, as of November 7, there have been 5,380 cases of H1N1 resulting in hospitalization, treatment in intensive care, or death. The number of people who have died is 297, according to the California Department of Public Health.
The forum is presented by the Southern California Public Health Association and Loma Linda University School of Public Health, and supported in part by the School of Public Health’s CDC-funded Center for Public Health Preparedness.
