
The Department of Health Promotion and Education emphasizes educational, interpersonal, community, preventive, and legislative factors that promote positive health behaviors. Currently, there are over 100 students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, matriculating through the MPH and DrPH programs. Students receive excellent preparation for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) examination. In 2005 the School of Public Health was among the top 10 schools for students/graduates taking and passing the CHES, showing an average score of 94.44% when the National average was 79.53%.
